Background

  • Also known as Rohypnol
  • Used in Europe and Asia for Insomnia and Pre-op sedation
  • Used in US as "date-rape" agent
  • An intermediate acting benzodiazepine
  • Has strong affinity for benzodiazepine receptor

Clinical Features

  • CNS depression within 30 minutes
  • Patients can usually be aroused with noxious stimuli
  • Half life 16-35 hours but coma can last 48h
