Air Force Emergency Medicine Residency Programs
- San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC)
- Wright-Patterson AFB/Wright State
- Travis AFB/UC Davis
- Nellis AFB/UMC Las Vegas
Civilian-Deferred Residency Programs
- "Inactive reserve" during civilian residency
- No military requirements during residency
- Paid same salary as other residents at civilian GME program
- Variable number of spots each year
Civilian-Sponsored Residency Programs (Approved Unfunded)
- Active duty while doing civilian GME residency
- Year-to-year active duty service commitment (ADSC) requirement
- Example: If you do a 4 year civilian residency, during residency you will get paid active duty military salary, but you will require an additional 4 years active duty commitment after completion of residency. If you were part the Health Professions Scholarship program (HPSP) during medical school, this will accrue an additional 4 years of active duty commitment for residency on top of the 4 years for medical school--a total of 8 years after residency.
