1900 - It is established in the municipality of Fajardo, east of the island of Puerto Rico, the "Escuela Normal Insular" to train teachers for the public school system. Enrollment had only 20 students and a staff of 5 teachers. In 1910, the College of Liberal Arts was established.
The University of Puerto Rico Emergency Medicine Residency Program is an ACGME accredited program under the ADS 10 year cycle. The University of Puerto Rico Emergency Medicine Residency Program has as primary teaching site the Hospital UPR. At this site residents and students evaluate patients under the supervision of our core and clinical faculty. The medical students are exposed to the use of the electronic medical record and actively participate in the evaluation and  treatment of patients. Medical students mainly see patients in the fast track area, but participate in the evaluation and treatment of acute care patients as well. During the rotation, they attend our Academic Activities, Journal Club and have the opportunity to present a topic.

In 1967, regional schools of Arecibo, Cayey and Humacao were created. Subsequently created the Ponce (1969), Bayamón (1971) Aguadilla (1972), Carolina (1973), and Utuado (1978). In 2006, the Board of Trustees approves Ten for the Decade 2006-2016 Agenda Planning.

Program Description
