General psychiatric approach

Workup

• CBC
• Chem 7
• LFTs + lipase
• PT/PTT
• ASA level
• Tylenol level
• Utox/Drugs of abuse
• ETOH
• Urine pregnancy/beta-hCG (if female of childbearing age)
• Consider:
  • CXR (for Tb screen or rule-out delirium in older patient)
  • ECG (for toxicology evaluation)
  • UA (for rule-out delirium in older patients)
  • HCT (to rule-out ICH in patients with AMS)

Differential Diagnosis

• Delirium
• Dementia
• Overdose

• Depression
• Anxiety
