Background

  • Disulfiram (Trade names: Antabuse, Antabus) - causes an acute reaction in the presence of ethanol.
    • Works by inhibiting acetaldehyde dehydrogenase → buildup of acetaldehyde → unpleasant effects.
    • Designed to assist in alcohol cessation.
