Southeastern Health
History
The Campbell-Southeastern Health Emergency Medicine Residency has ACGME Continued Accreditation status. The program began as a 4-year program, but transitioned to a 3-year program in July, 2020. It serves a large, rural non-profit healthcare network in Robeson County, North Carolina. It is considered to be one of the best keep secret in emergency medicine training! Residents are engaged and happy. Faculty have a passion for teaching and a passion for emergency medicine. HIghlights include interesting patients and pathology with tons of procedures. As a rural, racially diverse community, Lumberton is the poorest and unhealthiest county in NC. The patient population comes with diverse medical and social pathology. The ED sees an extremely high trauma volume, both blunt and penetrating, without a trauma team. The residency truly has a symbiotic relationship with the community. Patients welcome residents participate in their care as the program strives to improve the quality of care within the community. A true diamond in the rough.
